Bat Hawk (Macheiramphus alcinus alcinus)

Bat Hawk Macheiramphus alcinus

In Sarawak, the well known place for Bat Hawk is the Deer Cave of Mulu National Park.  Where thousands if not millions of bats leaving the huge cave for feeding.

Other than Mulu Caves sightings in Sarawak are rare with one sighting each at Lambir Hill National Park (2/12/2000) and Bukit Sarang Conservation Area near Tatau (6/7/2008) in recent years as extracted from BirdIWitness database.
A nest with 2 adult were seen at nest at Mulu-Buda National Park (21/6/2008).

In Western Sarawak, the only report was from Unimas when I chance upon a nest with three adults on ......

Another visit was made on 17 July 2013.  To my great surprised the nest is still there.  A young was initially seen inside the nest and outside the nest.  A total of 4 Bat Hawk were sighted at the same tree where the nest is sighted.
Two bird appeared to be adult while the other appear to be immature with white under bellied and the youngest near the nest.
